McCracken County Public Schools has partnered with Republic Services, Inc. with a goal to to promote recycling efforts and reduce the amount of trash collected from the schools. 

According to Lana Alderdice, the recycling efforts are in response to customer requests: "Over the last few years, Republic Services has listened to our customers and has seen a need for recycling in our community.".

McCracken County Public School officials welcome the partnership and impact it will have on the community. The district serves nearly 7,000 students within McCracken County. 

"Few current issues capture our students’ imaginations like recycling," says Superintendent Dr. Nancy Waldrop. "Our students will lead us if we will follow their good work."

Reducing the amount of trash collected at all county elementary, middle and high schools, reduces the amount of trash that ends up in local landfills.

Republic Services, Inc. has provided each school with a large recycling dumpster and takes the responsibility of sorting the recyclables for each school. To further promote recycling efforts, students in each school will design posters and public service announcements for their peers.
