Students from Heath, Lone Oak and Reidland high schools will participate in Poetry Out Loud district-wide school competitions on February 23 at Maiden Alley Cinema.

Poetry Out Loud is a national recitation contest. The competition, presented in partnership with the Kentucky Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, is part of a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization, performance and competition.

All three McCracken County high schools received a grant from the Kentucky Arts Council to participate in the Poetry Out Loud program.

Five students from each school were selected to compete in the district-wide school competition at Maiden Alley Cinema. One student from each school will advance to the state-level competition to be held in Frankfort on March 21.
