Superintendent's Blog: From the Desk of Dr. Waldrop...
McCracken County Public School District is truly a remarkable place. Our annual test scores only confirm my appreciation for the incredible teaching-learning exchanges that happen here at McCracken County on a daily basis.
Our Board of Education’s vision focuses on student success by providing well rounded and forward thinking opportunities for all children. Our superb teachers personify an unwavering commitment to academic excellence and to bringing out the best in each student. I interact routinely with bright and talented administrators who personify leadership and the urgency it produces. Our staff members are unified in their dedication to the students and to this great school district.
Our ACT scores place McCracken County high schools in the top 10% of Kentucky school districts, our district’s Advance Placement program shows an enrollment of over 600 in 17 different AP courses. These successful high school programs are directly linked to the solid academic preparation our students receive in elementary schools. McCracken County is a regional leader in educational innovations, including our 1:1 computing initiative and elementary robotics program.
Academic excellence is the hallmark of McCracken County Public Schools, and it always will be. I was pleased to hear Dr. Terry Holliday reinforce this in his remarks during our 2010 opening day ceremonies. The reputation and respect that accompanies students, staff, and the community of McCracken Co. Public Schools abounds throughout the region. We will continue to work hard to increase the quality and the depth of educational experiences for all of our students. I look forward with great anticipation to the promise that the future holds for this distinctive and life-changing place.
